Most gutter cleaning companies either spray wash or wipe your gutters out with a pole and sponge, both methods have there draw backs and can cause considerable damage and costly repairs.
Spray washing gutters causes debris to spread to siding, flowerbeds, roof, neighbors, etc. As well spray washing can damage the seals and joints of your gutters and potentially damage the roofing material.
The pole and sponge method causes considerably more contact with your roof, necessitating the technician to either physically climb onto the roof walking along the edge or to reposition the ladder every two or three feet again causing damage to flowerbeds, siding, shingles. Additionally this method typically leaves down-pipe traps full of debris where the sponge cannot reach.

Vacuum Extraction: We only use truck mounted vacuum systems to clean and extract the debris from your gutters. This provides minimal climbing on the roof and damage to expensive roof materials. All debris is removed from the site and dumped in a friendly mulch recycle location. All of our ladders have roof standoffs so as not to damage dent or bend your gutters by leaning ladders against them. We also employ man-lifts for larger residential, commercial and industrial jobs.

- Exterior gutter cleaning
Exterior gutter cleaning
Steam Washing: This is our basic method and typically chosen when we provide exterior building cleaning. We use extreme hot water or steam applied with medium pressure by spray wand to remove the algae, moss, mould and mildew. This method is the most economical way to clean.
Brush Scrub: This is our most popular method of cleaning. We start by applying an environmentally safe cleaning solution by hand using a brush. We allow the appropriate dwell time to enable the cleaning solution to effectively penetrate the soiled exterior. We then hand scrub the rain gutter and rinse with low pressure clean water to remove the algae, moss, mould and mildew. This method is more labour intense, takes much longer and is therefore more costly than Steam Washing. This method is recommended by rain ware manufacturers as the safest and most effective way to clean the exterior of your Rain Gutters without damaging the product or environment.
Hand Polish: This is our most intense cleaning method. We start by hand applying a chemical cleaning solution. We allow the appropriate dwell time to enable the chemical to effectively penetrate the soiled exterior. We then hand scrub with abrasive scouring pads the exterior surface and rinse with low pressure clean water. This removes the algae, moss, mould, mildew and acid rain marks. This method will restore the color however it will also alter the exterior finish of your Rain Gutter and void the manufacturer’s warrantee. Due to the high content of labour this method is usually cost prohibitive. It can be more than double the price of our Hand Brush Scrub cleaning and is therefore only quoted on a few select projects.
Black Marks: Commonly referred to as “Tiger Stripping” these black marks are a result of Acid Rain. They are highly visible on white or light colored Rain Gutters. The original aluminum manufacturing process and coatings determine the extent to which these black marks can be removed during cleaning. Other factors that will have an impact and should be considered are the weather, site environment and maintenance. If neglected for an extended length of time the Acid Rain effectively etches the exterior surface coating making removal extremely difficult and costly.

- Rain gutter repairs and installations
Rain gutter repairs and installations
Acrotech provides a full range of repairs and installations for all types of Gutters.
Seals: On every mitered corner, expansion joint and end cap a sealant is required to contain water within your gutter systems only allowing it to flow through outlets and down pipes safely channeling it away from your home. Professionally installed specialized sealants will ensure your Rain Gutters are leak free for their life term.
Failures: Seal failures occur over time for a variety of reasons i.e. Contamination of the original metal surface, oxidization, excessive debris, continuous pooling of water, expansion of water through freezing, movement of fascia board, expansion and contraction of the aluminum, inadequate caulking, improper installation etc. If left unrepaired leaking rain gutters can prematurely rot roof systems, stain building exteriors, erode landscaping, damage concrete,
stone or ashfault drive or walkways. Worse yet - The constant dripping can keep you awake at night.Reseals: Homeowners and handymen typically try a variety of methods to seal a leaking corner. Silicone, gutter caulking, super sealants or roofing tar. They’ll take care to clean the surface and apply the new sealant over the old one. For one to three months it may appear the problem is solved – Slowly the leaks reappear. A common misconception is “we didn’t use enough
caulking”. The pile of caulking grows while the results remain the same.AcroTech Reseals: We remove all the old caulking. Applying good caulking over bad WILLNOT WORK. Most caulking forms a durable skin cure within 30 minutes of the original installation and is virtually impossible to bond to. Once the old caulking is removed we grind the surface with a wire brush to remove oxidization and expose fresh aluminum. Next we clean the surface with a specialized solvent to remove surface contaminants. We then apply the new sealant. We use a one part high quality blend of synthetic rubber and resin. It exhibits excellent
elastomeric properties, while maintaining superior adhesion to aluminum under ponded water conditions. Our method of caulking ensures no air pockets during installation that potentially become future channels for leaking water. We also ensure an adequate volume of caulking to allow for a full cure and the aluminums expansion and contraction. The Impossible Seal: If we cannot remove all the old caulking we’ll install a new Box Mitre. This is done by cutting out the entire corner and installing a new aluminum one to match the existing profile and color. We mechanically fasten it in place and install new caulking on fresh aluminum to form a warrantied seal.
