FAQ
Q: Why do I need to even clean my rain gutters?

A: Your rain gutters perform the critical task of collecting rainwater from the roof and channelling it safely away from the structure. Down pipes choked with debris and leaves cause water to overflow uncontrollably and damage the roof, siding, paint, interior walls, basement, foundation, and landscaping resulting in expensive repairs. Weight from rain in debris filled gutters can loosen the mounting brackets and eventually pull the gutters away from the structure.  Debris that remains in gutters with clogged down pipes will decay into a moisture-laden sludge that accelerates the deterioration of the gutters and creates an environment where vegetation can grow. Standing water attracts unwanted birds and creates the ideal environment for breeding mosquitoes. Protecting your down pipes from clogging and minimizing gutter debris is essential to protecting your home investment.

Q: I’ve always had my gutters cleaned by hand – What do you mean by “Vacuum Extraction”?

A: Hand cleaning gutter interiors - Is the most common method. Most hand cleaners will remove the large debris by hand, take a garden house and flush the remaining moisten laden sludge into the down pipes.  If all of the sludge makes it through the down pipes it will then be found in your homes parameter drainage system...You’re problem has just been moved. Most clients are unaware of this growing pile of debris until serve symptoms appear. Your foundations or basements start to leak from the clogged drain tile.  This typically results in extensive parameter drainage repairs or worse yet complete excavation and replacement. This can be extremely expensive and disruptive. At AcroTech we developed our unique "Truck Mounted Industrial Vacuum System". This powerful system extracts all debris from the above ground rain gutters. Q: Does your company work in the rain?

A: Yes – Virtually all AcroTech services can be performed during rain.

Q: The weather is beautiful, it’s sunny, water is dripping from your rain gutters and AcroTech just called to cancel the cleaning based on weather conditions – How Can That Be?

A: It is common during cold snaps when clear and sunny conditions prevail. The gutters exposed to direct sunlight may partially thaw to allow for dripping however the majority of its contents are still frozen. Typically the North side rain gutters never do thaw even slightly. It can take a day or two of rain and warm temperatures to melt the ice/frozen debris and allow the gutters to flow freely.

Q: Do you use bleach in any of your cleaning products?

A: No. It is a common practice in our type of business to use bleach however at AcroTech we’ve chosen to only use bio-degradable products to help protect and preserve our environment.

Q: We have leaking corners on our gutters that we’ve had other companies repair and I’ve even tried doing it myself but nothing seems to work – Can you stop these annoying leaks and will it last?

A: What you’re experiencing is not uncommon. Resealing these joints may appear to be impossible. Most handyman and home owners will apply a variety of new types of caulking over the old caulking hoping it will work. At AcroTech we remove all the old caulking, expose bare uncontaminated aluminum, use a specific one part elastomeric caulking and properly apply it to the entire joint. Best of all we Warrantee our Reseals.

Q: Is it safe to Power-Wash the exterior of my home?

A: This is a common method of exterior building cleaning however we do not recommend it. This method relies on high pressured tap water (3000-4000 PSI) to dislodge and remove the soil from surfaces. This powerful water spray can compromise your building envelope or damage the surface being cleaned. Most operators try a variety of bio-degradable detergents to assist with the cleaning however they quickly become frustrated with ineffective results and resort to the corrosive/sterilizing properties of bleach. At AcroTech - Clients prefer our “Steam Washing” method of cleaning. Extreme Hot Water under moderate pressure (1500-1900 PSI) activates the penetrating properties of special formulated bio-degradable cleaning solutions. This process is much more effective, safer on your home and the environment.
